SAITAMA, Japan, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Japan's Uno Shoma retained the men's title in front of a boisterous home crowd at the World Figure Skating Championships here on Saturday.
Uno, who led the short program, finished five quadruple jumps in the free skate to score 196.51 points, sealing the title with a total of 301.14 points.
South Korea's Cha Junhwan took silver with 296.03 points, beating US teenager Ilia Malinin, who was second after the short program, to third place. Malinin scored 288.44 points.
The 26-year-old Uno, also twice silver medalist at the 2017 and 2018 worlds, won Japan's third gold medal for the tournament's hosts. Kaori Sakamoto successfully defended her women's title on Friday, while Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara took the pairs event.
In the day's ice dance competition, American duo Madison Chock and Evan Bates claimed the title. Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri of Italy came second, and Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier of Canada finished third.
