MACAO, July 2 (Xinhua) -- China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) is preparing to launch the "Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2025" in July, said the SAR government's cultural affairs bureau at a press conference on Wednesday.
Running through October and featuring artists from a dozen countries and regions, the event will bring together nearly 30 exhibitions citywide and is expected to be a signature international cultural and tourism initiative jointly developed by the SAR government and various sectors, the bureau said.
The main exhibition will open at the Macao Museum of Art on July 19, showcasing nearly 80 works created by 46 artists and exploring the history, memory, and current complexity of Macao within a global context, it underlined.
The press conference also noted that given Macao being honored as a "Culture City of East Asia" this year, artists from the Chinese mainland, Japan, and South Korea have jointly created Time Tower, an artistic piece that embodies Eastern philosophical concepts of time and space, commemorating the cultural bonds and spiritual connections among East Asian cities.
